Terberg and Aidrivers have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work together on the deployment of an autonomous terminal tractor solution for port terminals that is safe, scalable and forward-compatible.

The intention of the MOU is a long-term collaboration and the scope of work ranges from setting out the technical and functional safety specifications of the solution to be incorporated, through to development, testing and final acceptance.

The development of autonomous terminal tractors is triggered to meet the demands of port container terminals to increase efficiency, reduce the risk of people working in a hazardous environment and overcoming the shortage of drivers.

Dr Rafiq Swash, Founder and CEO of Aidrivers, said: “We are delighted to have signed this MOU with Terberg and look forward to working together to deliver an autonomous terminal truck that will meet the needs of the industry for safety, productivity, resilience and sustainable operations.”
